FISHERS, Ind. — A familiar face is returning to Indy.
The Indy Fuel have re-signed veteran forward Anthony Petruzzelli to a standard player contract for the 2026-27 ECHL season, bringing the 33-year-old back to the organization after two seasons with the Fort Wayne Komets.
Petruzzelli previously joined the Fuel during the 2023-24 season as part of a trade with the Jacksonville Icemen. He appeared in 48 games for Indy that season, recording 21 points and 26 penalty minutes.
Veteran Experience Returns to the Fuel
The Federal Way, Washington native has spent much of his professional career in the ECHL, including an extended run with Fort Wayne.
Petruzzelli played six seasons with the Komets before his first stint in Indy and served as Fort Wayne’s captain during his final two seasons. He also received an AHL opportunity with the Chicago Wolves during the 2019-20 season, appearing in four games.
After his time with Indy, Petruzzelli returned to Fort Wayne for the 2024-25 season and remained with the Komets in 2025-26. He recorded 40 points across 117 games during those two seasons and helped Fort Wayne reach the Kelly Cup Playoffs both years.
He also served as an alternate captain.
Now, Petruzzelli returns to an Indy team entering a new chapter under head coach Jesse Messier. His ECHL experience gives the Fuel another veteran presence as the club continues building its roster for the upcoming season.
The Fuel will open the 2026-27 regular season on October 16 against the Wheeling Nailers at Fishers Event Center.
