FISHERS, Ind. — Defenseman Kyle Aucoin will continue his professional career in Indy.
The Indy Fuel have re-signed the 24-year-old defenseman to a standard player contract for the 2026-27 ECHL season after Aucoin made his professional debut with the club last season.
Aucoin appeared in four regular-season games and another five games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording two assists.
His return gives the Fuel another young option on defense as the organization begins a new season under head coach Jesse Messier.
From College Hockey to Indy
Before turning professional, Aucoin played his final collegiate season at Miami University in Ohio, where he was recognized as an NCHC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete.
He previously spent four years at Harvard University and was part of an ECAC championship team during his first season.
Aucoin’s hockey background extends beyond the college level.
The Hinsdale, Illinois native was selected by the Detroit Red Wings with the 156th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Hockey also runs in the Aucoin family. His father, Adrian Aucoin, played 17 seasons in the NHL, while Kyle’s three younger siblings also play the sport.
After getting his first experience in professional hockey with the Fuel last season, Aucoin now has the opportunity to take on a larger role during his first full campaign in Indy.
The Fuel begin the 2026-27 regular season October 16 against the Wheeling Nailers at Fishers Event Center.
