One of INDYCAR’s most promising young talents is staying in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.

Ed Carpenter Racing announced that Danish driver Christian Rasmussen has signed a multi-year contract extension that will keep him in the No. 21 Chevrolet through the 2027 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season and beyond. The agreement represents a major commitment from both sides as Rasmussen continues to establish himself as one of the sport’s rising stars.

The extension comes during Rasmussen’s first full season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, a campaign that has already shown flashes of the talent that made him one of the most successful drivers in the Road to Indy development ladder.

Rasmussen joined Ed Carpenter Racing after building an impressive résumé in the junior ranks. He remains the only driver to win championships in the USF Juniors, USF2000, and USF Pro 2000 series, completing one of the most remarkable climbs through the American open-wheel development system. His success earned him opportunities in INDY NXT before eventually making the jump to the premier level of North American open-wheel racing.

«Christian has proven he belongs in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and we’re excited to continue building our future with him.»

Since arriving at ECR, Rasmussen has steadily developed into a key part of the team’s future. The organization has praised his work ethic, adaptability, and ability to maximize opportunities as he learns the complexities of INDYCAR competition.

For Rasmussen, the extension provides stability and an opportunity to continue growing within an organization that believes in his long-term potential.

«This team has felt like home from the beginning,» Rasmussen said in the announcement, expressing excitement about continuing to build toward future success with Ed Carpenter Racing.

The move is also significant for Ed Carpenter Racing, which has focused on developing young talent while remaining competitive across the INDYCAR paddock. Securing Rasmussen for multiple seasons gives the team a foundational piece as it looks toward future race wins and championship contention.

As the 2026 season continues, Rasmussen will have the opportunity to further prove why ECR has invested in his future. With valuable experience accumulating every race weekend and the confidence of a long-term contract behind him, the Danish driver appears poised to take the next step in his INDYCAR career.

For racing fans across Indiana, this announcement ensures that one of the sport’s most exciting young drivers will remain a familiar face on the grid for years to come.
