The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 delivered everything fans could have hoped for and more. Drama, strategy, emotion, and a finish that will live forever in Indy history.
On Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Felix Rosenqvist captured his first Indianapolis 500 victory breathtakingly, edging David Malukas in the closest finish ever recorded in the history of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” The Swedish driver crossed the Yard of Bricks just .0233 seconds ahead after an unforgettable final-lap battle that had the massive crowd on its feet.
From Felix’s pit, we had a front-row seat to an incredible race. For a few heart-stopping seconds, it seemed like Malukas was about to win it all.

The final moments of the race felt almost cinematic.
Following a late caution and restart, Marcus Armstrong led the field into a dramatic one-lap sprint to the finish, with David Malukas and Felix Rosenqvist close behind. Malukas made an aggressive move to take the lead entering Turn 1 and appeared to have the momentum needed to secure the biggest victory of his career.
But Rosenqvist had other plans.
Running the high line near the outside wall through Turn 4, Rosenqvist built incredible speed and used the aerodynamic tow to close rapidly on Malukas. The two drivers raced side by side toward the Yard of Bricks, with Rosenqvist narrowly pulling ahead at the line to secure a legendary win. The margin shattered the previous closest Indy 500 finish record set in 1992.
History Made for Rosenqvist and Meyer Shank Racing
The victory marked more than just a personal milestone.
Rosenqvist became only the third Swedish driver to win the Indianapolis 500, joining legendary names like Kenny Bräck and Marcus Ericsson. It also gave Meyer Shank Racing its second NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory, with both wins coming at the Indianapolis 500, reinforcing the team’s remarkable connection to racing’s most prestigious event.
The race itself rewrote the record books, producing an astonishing 70 lead changes across 200 laps, setting a new event record and proving once again why the Indy 500 remains one of the most unpredictable and exciting races in motorsports.

A Magical Month for the Indy 500 Champion
For Rosenqvist, this victory carried even deeper meaning.
May had already become one of the most emotional months of his life after he and his wife, Emille, welcomed their daughter Stella earlier in the month. Standing in Victory Lane after the race, Rosenqvist reflected on the personal and professional journey that made the moment feel almost surreal.
Winning the Indianapolis 500 while celebrating new fatherhood turned an already unforgettable month into something truly extraordinary.

Team Penske and IndyCar Stars Shine in Epic Finish
The thrilling finish also showcased the incredible depth of competition across the field.
Scott McLaughlin completed the podium in third for Team Penske, while Pato O’Ward finished fourth after another strong Indianapolis 500 performance. Marcus Armstrong rounded out the top five, helping create one of the tightest and most competitive endings in race history, with less than half a second separating the top five finishers.
The closing laps became a strategic chess match involving fuel conservation, pit timing, and late-race caution drama before delivering the unforgettable showdown fans witnessed on the final lap.
The 2026 Indy 500 Delivers Another Legendary Chapter
Indianapolis has always been a place where legends are made.
This year, Felix Rosenqvist added his name to that legacy in unforgettable fashion.
From the record-setting lead changes to the emotional post-race celebration and the closest finish in Indianapolis 500 history, the 2026 race reminded everyone why the Month of May means so much to racing fans around the world.
And for those lucky enough to witness it, this was more than a race. It was an instant Indy classic.
