Arthur Fery is still standing in Cincinnati.

The British rising star battled his way into the next round of the Cincinnati Open on Saturday, defeating Australia’s James Duckworth 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(4) in a match that went all the way to a deciding tiebreak.

Fery set the tone by taking the opening set 6-4, but Duckworth quickly responded. The Australian found another level in the second, winning it 6-2 and sending the match into a deciding set.

The third set turned into a fight for every point. With neither player able to create enough separation, the match eventually came down to a tiebreak.

That’s where Fery delivered.

The Brit stayed composed in the biggest moments, taking the tiebreak 7-4 to close out the match and celebrate another important victory in Cincinnati.

For Fery, the win adds another chapter to what has been a breakthrough season and gives him another opportunity to make an impact on one of the ATP Tour’s biggest stages.
