Venus Williams’ run at the 2026 Cincinnati Open came to an early end Friday after a straight-sets loss to Colombia’s Emiliana Arango.
The seven-time Grand Slam singles champion fell 6-2, 6-2 as Arango controlled the first-round matchup and secured the victory in just over an hour.
Williams, 46, received a wild card into the Cincinnati Open main draw, bringing one of tennis’ most recognizable names back to Cincinnati.
Despite the loss, Williams’ appearance was one of the notable moments of the opening round, while Arango moves on to continue her run at the WTA 1000 tournament in Mason, Ohio.
