LEXINGTON, Ky. — Indy Eleven kept its strong USL Cup road form alive Saturday night, defeating Lexington SC 7-6 in a dramatic penalty shootout after a scoreless 90-minute draw at Lexington SC Stadium.
The victory marked the second time in the last five weeks that the Boys in Blue have emerged victorious in a penalty shootout away from home, extending their unbeaten road streak in the USL Cup to four matches (2-0-2).
Goalkeeper Reice Charles-Cook was the hero of the night. After making seven saves during regulation, including several crucial second-half stops, he delivered when it mattered most in the shootout. Charles-Cook denied Joe Hafferty in the fifth round before making the decisive save against Latif Blessing to secure the victory for Indy Eleven.
Despite missing their opening penalty attempt, Indy responded by converting seven consecutive kicks from Josh O’Brien, Mohamed Omar, Alejandro Mitrano, Charlie Sharp, Paco Craig, Logan Neidlinger, and Makel Rasheed.
The match also featured several notable lineup changes as head coach Sean McAuley rotated his squad in the final USL Cup group-stage match. Mohamed Omar earned his first-ever start for Indy Eleven, while Hesron Barry and Dylan Sing made their first starts since March.
Charles-Cook’s seven-save performance was his second-highest total since joining Indy Eleven, trailing only his 10-save outing during the 2025 U.S. Open Cup against Philadelphia Union.
With the result, Indy Eleven finishes group play with seven points and moves into second place in Group 4.
The Boys in Blue return to action on July 4 when they host Charleston Battery at Carroll Stadium for their “Indy-Pendence Day” celebration.
